Some Fine Old Furniture

sell used furniture in college

When a child is born, he opens his eyes to the world. His mother plays the role of his first guru and allows him to see the world through her eyes. He experiences every minute detail with a great surprise and astonishment. As he keeps on growing he learns to eat, to sit, to walk, to talk, to understand, to identify and when the time comes that he can learn to write, he gets his maiden stationary, pencils, rubber, sharpener and what not. But the most overlooked thing here appears to be the furniture. That fine old furniture, for which nobody cares, but has been means of a child’s learning and growth since generations, since ages. It has remained most inevitable part in every single family member’s life.

I was lucky enough that I belong to a generation of late 80’s (in fact the decade of 90’s was about to commence). I was one of those who got the chance to learn the vitality of “wood” in the life of a human being through a folk song KAHAANI LAKADI KI. This song fortifies and glorifies the usage of wood in a person’s life right from his birth when as a child he gets into a crib to have a silent and calm sleep to toys to play, to bed and chair to have rest and to his ultimate liberation from this human body, when he gets old and death embraces him and his body is given away to woods, to burn him into ashes, or to a coffin. Thus, every phase of human life is considered to be untouched from wood and wooden accessories during his life span. Indeed, the furniture utilises the most of this wood.

However, Nowadays as the time has just changed, the furniture have evolved a lot so as to make them lighter, durable, cheaper and above all, which I find the most apt, to reduce tree cutting. Now an extensive and exhaustive range of furniture doesn’t employ wood only. In many ways the place of wood has been taken over by various thermoplastics such as ABS, Polycarbonates Polypropylene which are easy to mould and thus can be fashioned into astonishingly attractive shapes. The other alternative to wood has come up as metals which are no lesser a choice than plastics and give even more durability and liberty to experiment. With thinnest of metallic threads, the aesthetics of the furniture can be taken to a new level all together. This somehow is not possible in case of plastics.

As a student we use a diversified range of furniture such as tables, chairs, beds, drawers, drawing boards, almirah and cupboards or wardrobes. While we are studying, we don’t even care that which thing is meant for what? Like it’s the most common thing for boys to use their chair and bed as a place to keep their clothing and stuff rather than the almirah or drawer or wardrobe. The books lay in bed or in a wardrobe where as they are meant to be nicely maintained in a niche in some vicinity or should be well organised on their study tables or in drawers. Guys simply remain nonchalant by the time their purpose of keeping the things is getting fulfilled somehow.

However, there comes a time when students have to abandon their places once their colleges are over to get into a job, or may be for higher studies after schools or colleges also students leave their existing accommodations. In those times this old furniture which used to be an unsung mate to them now becomes a burden to them, as carrying a bulk of so many things to other cities becomes a tricky job. Also packing and moving this old furniture becomes either a tedious (if it is quite good in quantity) or a costly task (if it is lesser in quantity). They somehow wish to get rid of this whole stuff with a minimum possible effort so they are left with a few choices:

  • The most convenient option which one finds is to give it away to the dear known juniors for free.
  • To sell it to someone who wishes to buy it. Or
  • To donate to someone in need of it.

In all the above choices the 1st one is the most convenient option.

However, if the furniture of yours is costly in your opinion then for sure you go for option no. 2. Here again you find a difficulty in seeking for someone who needs it. To put you in ease there is this platform of ours AllstudyX.com where you can put your ads for the stuff you wish to sell. The biggest privilege here is, you can find the buyer nearest to your campus or even within your campus.

Also, even if you don’t have much of an interest in selling your old furniture and you feel like your junior friends are capable enough to buy theirs or already have some then you can opt to donate it at AllstudyX.com to someone in need.

This way, it will be convenient for you to find the new end user for your Old Furniture which has served you during those endless and petrifying exam preparation nights or which has accompanied you otherwise, whilst you used to party with your friends or used to have sleep overs.
