First known use of this term found date back to before 12 century.  Helping someone in need is a feeling that gives you a immense happiness.

Basic Human nature is derived from such an acts of help, where you feel like this is incorporated with one’s own existence. You start your day with nature’s help when you inhale oxygen to breathe, take advantage of sun’s light to do the things easily, walk on the earth and use natural resources like food grains water for your very existence. So this is very much clear that it all starts with help of someone or something. Sometimes help makes your life easier or act of help by you makes things easy for someone else.

We have many Ngo worldwide doing tremendous job to help raise living standards of poor or needy class. They work tirelessly round the clock to create an eco system with the help of local governments and people from the community to provide the help to needy hand. There are many stories and acts of help across the world which shows the importance and urgency of the assistance required to people.

Indian society culture and mythology is filled with these expressions of help and there have been special emphasis on this always. We have examples of help and sacrifice from our ancient times  like of Maharshi Dadhichi who is known for sacrificing his life so the Deva or the benevolent Gods, could make the weapon called “vajra”, from his bones. After being driven out from Svarga or heaven, by the serpent king Vritra, the Deva needed a powerful weapon to aid their fight. By making use of the vajra, made from sage Dadhichi’s bones, the Devas defeated the Asura and reclaimed heaven.

We have stories likes of  Karna, Mahabali, Harishchandra are the three most famous personalities in Hinduism based on the merits they earned by giving charity. They are often quoted for their sacrifice, courage, charity, velour and selflessness they exhibited for helping a fellow being. This is taught by our elders to us in such a way that we take any helping cause as a duty. This is proved in our social and governments schemes too where lot of efforts are being put for social justice and upbringing of lower class. Organizations like Unicef, Red cross are working relentlessly across nations for benefit of comman man without discriminating about their cast, creed, gender or nationality.
